Six year old Whobegotyou $4.40 will be looking to roll back the years on Saturday as he takes on the next generation for the Caulfield Stakes en route to the Cox Plate. Barrier
five is his starting gate this year as he attemps to keep the new weight for age stars at bay.
His prep has gone nicely with a first-up win in the Group Two PB Lawrence Stakes followed by a third Group Two Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes on September 10th. He won this race back in 2009 and finished third to So You Think last year.
Like many I would love to see this established campaigner run a big race on Saturday but I can’t help but think his time may be up with the likes of four-year old Lion Tamer waiting in the wings.
Lion Tamer is the favourite at $3.60 and is top of the betting shop to do the business on the first Tuesday of November, he’s Whobegotyou’s neighbour in gate six with Michael Rodd on board. He arrives as the sizzling winner of the Group 1 Underwood Stakes on September 17th and it’s my bet that he will be stepping up in distance to fill our pockets at a price of $3.60 on Saturday.
Others of interest include At First Sight who’s a $8.50 chance after taking second behind December Draw in the Group 3 Naturalism Stakes over this track and distance, Last year’s runner-up Alcopop $7.00 who delivered runner up slot in the Dato’tan Chin Nam Stakes last up on September 10th and Sincero $7.00 who takes on 2000m for the first time.

No if’s or but’s for me, it’s Lion Tamer at $3.60 all the way
